DiY Digs & Whoosh – Power FM

by tim on May 16, 2011

Here’s another exclusive DiY recording for you – courtesy of Max who was sitting next to a radio/tape recorder, listening to Power FM on 21st July 1994.  As far as we know, he was the only person to hit the record button that night.  And what he captured was a Digs and Whoosh show with a difference.

Different to the kind of sets Digs & Whoosh were playing out at the time, there isn’t much in the way of house music played in this show.

This was a golden age of pirate radio in Nottingham, with Heatwave, Power, Rave and Touch FM running 24/7 virtually 365 days a year.  Trent FM estimated that it lost 60% of its audience to these stations and pursuaded the DTI to pay some special attention to the airwaves of Nottingham.   I’m not sure many of us would have switched to Dale Winton on Trent FM in their absence though?

Recorded on Mansfield Road, Sherwood, in a flat above the shops.  Enjoy the show.
