jackson 5 – I am love (Parts I & II)

by dom on February 14, 2008

First entry for the Jackson clan to the Love Unlimited Hall of Fame – and we’ve opted for a proper rocking anthem & long-time favourite.

Released in 1974 & split over two sides of a 7″ single (Parts I & II). The song “I Am Love” was the Jackson 5′s last Top 20 hit for Motown, it reached number 15 on the US charts before they left to join the CBS roster. The full version features on the LP Dancing Machine combining the two parts and comes in at over 7 minutes.

The song is part-soul ballad with Jermaine on vocal duties before it heads into funk/rock territory with the vocal baton passed to his brother Michael.

Happy Valentines Day from all at the Love Unlimited HQ.
