Finished Touch - Sunshine Love

April 18th, 2007 · 9 Comments

According to member Kenny Stover, Finished Touch wasn’t really a group at all, just a bunch of guys and gals signed to songwriting contracts with Motown Records & somebody decided to assemble as a studio group.

Dropped by the label in 1978 Kenny Stover a member of this loose Motown studio collective was also a close friend of Marvin Gaye helping him out with the loan of his car when the Taxman was chasing Marvin & contributing backing vocals to Inner City Blues taken from the stone cold classic LP that is Whats Going On.

You re-edit heads out there might recognise this from some purveyors of basement soul from across the pennines…..

As well as being used on the basement soul track you mention, it was also used as a great dropout on a EP out of sheffield in 1991, just a “case of” heavy “funk” bass!

Well done with great site with loads of my favourite tunes on it

    Hi Mark a

I don’t know the Steel City EP you mention, it sounds very interesting though, so much good music from that time. Cheers for the heads-up.

Glad you like the site - loads more musical goodness on its way.

    Cheers

    Easy Dom
the clue is on the words with “”, it shouldn’t too much of a “nightmare” to find a clip to listen. Let me know if you need a hand

All-good, cheers for the clarification Mark a.

Remember when that 12″ was released - very fond memories of warp, both the label & the shop.

    Hi Mark a

Checked my Nightmares mini EP/LP & the tune from your 12″ is on the LP too.

I see the Nightmares On Wax soundsytem are on tour at the moment.

    Hi Dom
nice one for finding it on the lp. I use to love case of funk, a proper basement, heavy tune. Another I remember loving was the Forgemasters “track with no name”.
Say hi to (my disco/house mate) Andrew for me tomorrow, i’ll be tuning in.

    Hi Mark
2 more “heavy” warp moments, “The Step - Yeah You” & “Tuff Little Unit - Come & Join The Future”.

    Take it Easy
